One part that makes Glasshouse Kitchen unique is how its Neapolitan-style pizzas are cooked. “What we wanted to do with this space here is create an environment that was different from Wye Hill, that was more elevated more polished, but also reflected a lot of the wonderful innovation and creativity that’s happening right here in Research Triangle, and offer a really great dining experience where there hasn’t really been a great number of full-service restaurants to meet the number of people who work here in the park,” Abernethy said. “There’s a theme among us in our professional journey of being really attracted to untapped potential, and I feel like Wye Hill is my love letter to my hometown of Raleigh,” Abernethy said. The establishment earned recognition as a finalist in the 2021 WRAL Voters Choice Awards in the burgers, cocktails and outdoor dining categories. Wye Hill is known for its magnificent view of the Raleigh skyline. “We just were instantly enamored with the potential of that space,” Abernethy said.Ī year later, the couple reopened the establishment overlooking the downtown Raleigh skyline as Wye Hill. In 2018, the couple got introduced to the previous owner of the Boylan Bridge Brewpub, eventually buying the establishment.
